About Dr. Lenora Roat Arrington

Licensed Psychologist, NARM® (NeuroAffective Relational Model) Master Therapist and Somatic Experiencing® Practitioner (SEP)

Dr. Arrington maintains a private practice in Mount Airy, MD. She is also a member of PSYPACT®. The Psychology Interjurisdictional Compact (PSYPACT®) is an agreement among participating U.S. states that allows licensed psychologists to legally provide telepsychology services (e.g., video therapy) from their home state to clients located in other PSYPACT states.

With over thirty years of experience as a psychotherapist, she works in private practice supporting adult individuals with complex developmental and relational histories. Her work focuses on complex trauma—including spiritual and religious trauma—as well as anxiety, depression, and identity-related concerns.

Dr. Arrington's approach is integrative and holistic, combining psychodynamic psychotherapy withNARM® (NeuroAffective Relational Model) and Somatic Experiencing® to support insight, regulation, and relational healing

She offers a supportive and compassionate therapeutic space where clients can explore their challenges with curiosity and insight. By integrating complementary methods and techniques, she tailors her approach to each individual, helping clients build on their strengths and make meaningful progress toward the personal growth they are committed to.

Dr. Arrington utilizes NARM® (NeuroAffective Relational Model) to help clients develop mindful awareness of their present-moment experience. This includes noticing somatic sensations (a “felt sense”), thoughts and beliefs, and emotions. This awareness allows clients to slow down and recognize patterns that may have helped them survive in the past but that now limit their access to full life energy while also appreciating the adaptive function of these patterns.

Through the gentle approach of Somatic Experiencing®, symptoms are addressed by supporting the release of trapped trauma energy, encouraging the completion of self- protective responses, and guiding the nervous system back into a state of healthy regulation. This profound, body-based work fosters lasting changes in the nervous system, supporting deeper resilience, emotional balance, and well-being. Therapy with Dr. Arrington emphasizes safety, curiosity, and collaboration, supporting both somatic awareness and relational insight.
