Rest & Ritual: Returning to What Endures

A one-day retreat for women, shaped by seven invitations to slow, soften, and return to the wisdom of body and earth

At Piney Run Park, Sykesville, MD

Seven Invitations

Grounding and Orienting

Root into the Earth
Slowing down to be in the body and notice what supports you.
Find presence and stability in your body and the earth.

Ritual

Honor the Sacred
Cacao Ceremony, Mandala Making
Engaging intentional practices that honor transition and rest

Resource in Nature

Draw strength from the earth
Walking and connecting to nature, using all five senses, forest bathing
Drawing support, guidance and nourishment from nature

Stillness and Spaciousness

Breathe into the Pause
Breathing, slowing down, reflecting
Creating space for stillness, reflection and awareness

Connection to Self and Other

Tend the Heart
Brief journaling or meditation prompts, invitation to share insights
Nurturing connection to yourself and others

Movement and Embodiment

Move with Presence
Restorative yoga, all levels of experience (inside the Yurt)
Awakening sensation, movement and embodied presence

Exit with Care and Return to the World

Carry Care Forward
Integrating the wisdom of your experience
Carrying care, grounding and renewal back into your daily life

Who should come to this retreat?

If your days feel heavy and your body longs for ease,
If your mind is full and your heart carries the weight of others,
If you long for quiet space to simply be with your own thoughts and feelings,
If time in nature brings a whisper of peace,
If the world–or your own world–has felt heavy with grief, responsibility or challenging events…
This day-long retreat for women (inclusive) is a gentle invitation:
to pause, to rest deeply, move gently, and reconnect with your body, your heart, and the living world around you — to gather strength, nourishment, and steadiness so that when life feels hard, you can keep going with care for yourself and for the world you hold.

You’re met by the strength and steadiness of the earth itself. You can rest on her.  –Jack Kornfield

you must rest
and all at once
they fell into a deep sleep
all the tired women
that lived inside her
